The purpose of the Physical Education program is to teach students the knowledge and skills needed to engage in physical activity now and for a lifetime. A physically active lifestyle will lead to personal enjoyment and a healthy lifestyle. As a result of participation in the health class the students will be able to:
- Perform fundamental skills and movement patterns allowing them to participate in physical activity
- Apply movement principles and concepts to learning and developing motor skill
- Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness
- Demonstrate a physically active lifestyle
- Demonstrate responsible behaviors in physical activity settings
The purpose of the Health Program is to help students acquire an understanding of health concepts and skills that will assist them in making positive choices that promote personal, family, and community health. As a result of participation in the health class the students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and behaviors that reduce health risks and enhance the health of self and others
- Demonstrate the ability to access, evaluate and use health information, products, and services that influence health and well being
- Demonstrate appropriate health practices and behaviors to promote a safe community, safe home, safe school, and personal safety
