We hope everyone had a great summer. We are excited to announce that while you were away JHS was voted aNational PTA School of Excellence! We will be celebrating this distinction in October. If you like kickball let Beth Kluger, your VP of Programs know now! We are one of 278 schools nationwide to earn this distinction!
We hope everyone got to come out to Open House it was fun to see so many returning faces and meet some new ones. Mr. Townsend kicked started the Freshman Parents with the all new Freshman Parent Orientation. The link to his Powerpoint is on social media and it was filled with great information. We welcomed our teachers and staff back with the Teacher’s Back to School Luncheon. Thank you to so many volunteers and donors who made this possible.

Membership in the JHS PTSA and Virginia PTA provides the opportunity to participate in the National PTA Reflections program. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the program! Reflections encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Since it was founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, millions of students have benefited from this program.
Reflections Awards Program Students in Pre-K through grade 12 create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.
Entries are Due October 8, 2018 to the Main Office.

PTSA meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the JHS Media Center (on the second floor; take stairs on the left off the front hall, Media Center will be straight ahead). If a bigger space or different time is needed, we’ll announce the change via email to members and post signs to the new location. All are welcome at any meeting.
