Project Update – 8/22/14

  • Maintenance sees no issues at this point that will prevent/delay school opening this year.
  • Matoaka: Received the draft CO ($60,000) for the Matoaka playground project flowable fill issue Wednesday.  Will need to set up a meeting next week to resolve.  Progress meeting on Tuesday 8/26/14.
  • Toano:  Final walk through at Toano Monday morning.  Tracey Jones and her AP participated, along with RRMM and Virtexco.  Group looked at flooring, corrective painting and other issues.  Except for a few minor deficiencies, all was approved.
  • RBE: Had a wall progress meeting at Rawls Byrd Tuesday.  The masonry work will be completed by Thursday.  Final inspection on Friday with a walk through punch list review Monday.  Satisfactorily resolved the question about access to grease trap.  Question arose at the meeting from Karen Swann about gate access during bus dismissal. Be ideal to have one gate closer to one of the pod sidewalks.  Working with architect to find best solution.  The gates were moved from the sidewalks directly adjacent the buildings at the direction of the JCC Fire Marshall.
  • Matthew Whaley:  Trailer inspection completed on Tuesday.  All OK for school start.
  • Berkeley:  trailer inspection found some issues.  Working to resolve asap.  Expect all to be resolved by end of this week.
  • Open House Dates: Architects and engineers, with summer projects , alerted of the open house dates next week.  Wanted to be sure there were no conflicts.
  • Norge: Spoke with Kim Pickles Wednesday regarding idea about rerouting the drop off lane (safety issue) at Norge.  She wants to observe the first few weeks of school and get back to us.
  • Blair SBCO:  We are creating a series of school prints for the Blair meeting room.
  • JHS:  Thursday morning.  Project is on schedule overall.  However, there were several items backordered by the supplier and beyond the control of the contractor.  The folding partitions in the classrooms will arrive and be installed next week as will the exterior kitchen door. The four water fountains in the locker rooms were received earlier but were the incorrect models.  They were reordered.  If they do not arrive prior to students returning, the contractor will put up a board to block access to the piping.  Except for the fountains, all should be ready for school opening. Final completion of all punch list items is Sept. 19.
  • JHS: Mike Ross from HBA, MJT staff and Gerry Lewis looked at the JHS roof Thursday regarding some concerns with ongoing leaks.  Roof is scheduled to be replaced next year.  Need to make sure we know exactly what repairs are needed as some of the damage is not readily visible.  Possible that we may need to include some substrata material to better hold down the shingles.
  • LHS:  HVAC and aud progress meeting next Wednesday 8/27/14.
