WJCC DIVISION & HIGH SCHOOL
Elementary School Teachers of the Year
I have been a WJCC Bright Beginnings Teacher for 6 years, starting at JRE and at CBB for the last 5 years. After graduating from the University of Vermont, I taught preschool for 12 years prior to moving to Williamsburg. Working with my preschoolers and their families to build a good foundation for their future education is my passion.
Wanda is a K-5 Special Education Teacher at Rawls Byrd Elementary. She serves as a Spanish interpreter, team leader, and is a mentor for new teachers. Wanda is a strong advocate for her students. Her priority is to ensure that all of her students receive a well-rounded education. As a grant recipient, her students were able to participate in programs such as adapted swimming and horseback riding therapy.
I have been a speech-language pathologist for 30 years, and have held a national certificate of clinical competence for 28 years. I am very passionate about teaching my students to become effective communicators and mentoring student clinicians and new speech therapists in the WJCC schools. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 26 years. I am an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Lakers fan.
