The first annual Greater Williamsburg Distance Running Club (GWDRC) 1 mile and 2 mile Challenge took place on Saturday, October 22 at Jamestown High School’s track and the Greenspring Interpretive Trail. Participants ran on the Jamestown Track plus traveled on a gravel and grass trail. The morning was breezy and cool with temps in the 60’s. There were a total of 71 runners that completed the four events.
First Place Finishers for Elementary 1 mile:
• Girls: Eve Rice – 7:47
• Boys: Beckham Dollyhigh – 6:26
First Place Finishers for Middle School 2 mile:
• Girls: Nina Parziale – 14:11
• Boys: Harris Agnew – 13:45
This event was made possible through the collaboration of Mark Tompkins, Jamestown High School’s Teacher, Cross Country Coach and Coordinator for the GWDRC and the School Health Initiative Program (SHIP). Jamestown Cross Country team members assisted during the event and water and bananas were donated by ALDI.
