Stonehouse Elementary is a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School! The U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content.
For seventeen years, Stonehouse has garnered the tremendous support of families, community leaders and local organizations. As Sea STARS, the school’s core values include Safety, Tolerance, Attitude, Respect and Striving for Excellence. These ideals are embedded in the school and guide interactions among students and staff.
In 2016, only 329 schools were named as National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. In its 35th year, the U. S. Department of Education has bestowed this coveted award on fewer than 8,500 schools.
Congratulations to Stonehouse Elementary School!
