Safe Routes to School: Countdown to International Walk to School Day

Williamsburg’s mayor, Paul T. Freiling, joins Matthew Whaley families for International Walk to School Day, 2016.

WJCC students and their families are invited to join students from 40 countries in celebrating International Walk to School Day on October 4, 2017. On that day, Safe Routes to School will initiate the 2017 – 2018 “Walk and Roll Incentive Program” at four of our division’s target elementary schools: Laurel Lane, Matthew Whaley, Norge, and Clara Byrd Baker. Matthew Whaley and Norge students who live too far to walk regularly may, again, participate in the monthly Park and Walk programs.

To become a Safe Routes to School Champion at your child’s school, or lead a Walking School Bus  of your child’s friends and neighbors, please contact Darlene Wiggins Dockery at darlene.dockery@wjccschools.org for more details or sign up at the Safe Routes to School incentive table on International Walk to School Day.
