A $90,971 School Security Equipment Grant has been awarded to Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools to purchase and install additional security equipment at Laurel Lane Elementary, Matthew Whaley Elementary and Stonehouse Elementary schools.
WJCC was awarded grants in previous years to make improvements at Clara Byrd Baker Elementary, D.J. Montague Elementary, James River Elementary, Norge Elementary, Toano Middle and Berkeley Middle schools.
In announcing the awards, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said, “School safety is imperative to providing an environment where students can learn, grow and thrive. These grants will provide our school administrators with the resources they need to keep their students and teachers safe so they can concentrate on providing a world-class education and preparing for success in the new Virginia economy.”
The School Security Equipment Grants program was established by the Virginia General Assembly in 2013.
