Lafayette Art Teacher Wins Award for Sculpture

A Hidden Strength Sculpture by Sharna GrantLafayette High School art teacher, Shainna Grant, won an Award of Excellence for her ceramic artwork, A Hidden Strength, at Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center’s 2018 Juried Art Show. The exhibition was open to all Virginia artists, and of the about 230 pieces that were submitted, only 78 artworks from 56 artists were selected for display. The juror, Ken Wright, is a former arts commissioner for the state of Virginia and has received over 300 awards and honors for his work. The Award of Excellence distinguishes A Hidden Strength as one of Mr. Wright’s top eight selections.
