90 percent of Mrs. Cornell’s Design, Multimedia, and Web-Technologies (DMWT) students earned Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification in PowerPoint 2010. Test candidates need to score 700 points out of 1000 to pass. These 21 student’s earned scores ranging from 743 to 979. Five of the 21 students scored over 900 points.
The Hornsby Hawks Baseball Team stormed through the district tournament to win their 3rd consecutive Bay Rivers District Championship with a 16-0 record. In the semi âfinals, the Hawks over powered Yorktown 21-4. The Hawks had their 2nd perfect season (13-0 in 2012) as a result of outscoring opponents 202 â 36.

Saturday April 26th approximately 400 students and running club coaches participated in the D.O.G. Street 5K. Melissa Natter, special education teacher at Hornsby Middle school, coordinated 12 Assisted Athletes and numerous pushers for the event as well.
Dan Smith, Colonial National Park Superintendent, awarded Lauren Dickerson, Rho Kappa President, the George B. and Helen Hartzog Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contributions at Historic Jamestown on behalf of Rho Kappa on April 19.
On Saturday, March 22, eighty five 5th grade orchestra students from all nine elementary schools converged on Matoaka Elementary School for the 2014 Elementary Orchestra Solo Festival. These students worked hard to prepare two solos to perform for a judge. These 5th graders performed beautifully and will soon be presented with their medals. Congratulations, orchestra students!
