BMS Theatre Wins Silver at VTA! Actors Receive Awards!

The Berkeley Theatre team had a wonderful time at the theatre conference the weekend of October 28-30, 2016. They won a Silver award for their one-act play, I Remember. The students had an opportunity to take workshops from college professors and professionals in Stage Combat, Improvisation, Auditioning for Commercials and Film, Musical Theatre, and Dance. Students met, Enrique Brown, a dancer who starred on Broadway in The Little Mermaid and began his career as a professional ballet dancer. They spent time with the theatre teams from all around the state including Toano and Hornsby and became great friends (exchanging Snapchat and Instagram accounts). Also, two of our students were recognized with outstanding acting awards. Nia Mucher was awarded Best Actress and Ryan Holcomb was given the distinction of All-Star Cast. Congratulations to our awesome theatre students!

Young Readers’ Author Visits Berkeley!

Author Lisa Graff visited with Berkeley’s Sixth Graders on Thursday, October 6. She explained her writing process and her background to our excited sixth grade students. There was a question and answer session. Ms. Graff also read an excerpt from her upcoming book to the students! Thanks to our librarian, Mrs. Ericksen, for arranging this visit!
