African American Literature – Grades 10-12
Description
Students in this course will survey the works of African American authors with African roots from the periods of slavery, the Harlem Renaissance, and the contemporary era. Through close readings of selected literary works, students will enhance and increase their development of literary and analytical skills. The course will closely consider verbal and literary modes including how African oral traditions, language, folklore, and music have created a unique African American literary voice.
