Students will continue to add vocabulary and idiomatic expressions to their pre-existing vocabulary base. Language functions and increasingly difficult grammatical structures are learned in the context of everyday interactions and social relationships. Level III progresses to impersonal information, things that are not present, and abstract ideas. Role-play situations, which predict everyday deaf-hearing encounters, are used for the development of cultural awareness and cross-cultural adjustment skills. Students also investigate career opportunities associated with American Sign Language and Deaf Culture.
