Health and Physical Education I
Description
Health I topics include wellness and fitness, nutrition, infectious diseases, AIDS, STDs, and family life and sex education. Physical Education I focuses on lifetime activities including: disc games, biking, speedminton, orienteering, geocaching, rhythms and dance, and cooperative activities. Biomechanics is an important component of the program so students understand how the body moves when performing a skill. A major emphasis is placed on fitness activities including: yoga, Pilates, stability ball and strength training. *Completion of this course meets the “Training for Emergency First Aid, CPR & Use of an AED” graduation requirement beginning with the freshman class of 2017-2018 and beyond.
