Medical Assistant II – Grade 12
Description
This course is Dually Enrolled with Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) and will take place at the VPCC Historic Triangle campus.
This course is the second in a sequence of courses that prepares students to support the work of physicians and other health professionals as a Medical Assistant. In this course, students apply and Implement medical-assisting skills and techniques learned In Medical Assistant I. Students will also learn management of health records, collection and analysis of laboratory specimens, special diagnostic testing related to basic diseases and disorders, and care and use of equipment. Off-site, on-the-job clinical experience in a healthcare facility is part of this course. Upon successful completion of Medical Assistant I and Medical Assistant II, students will have earned CPR certification and will have the opportunity to take the certification exam for becoming a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) in Virginia.
