Description

This course is Dually Enrolled with Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) and will take place at the VPCC Historic Triangle campus.

This course is the first in a sequence of courses that prepares students to render direct patient care as entry-level Nurse Aides in a variety of health service facilities. Students will learn basic care skills with emphasis on physical, social, and emotional needs of patients. This course covers procedures, communications, and Interpersonal relation; observations, charting and reporting, care planning, safety, and infectious control; anatomy and physiology; nutrition and patient feedings; and ethics, death and dying. Upon successful completion of this course and Nurse Aide II, students will have earned CPR certification and will have the opportunity to take the certification exam for becoming a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in Virginia.
