Description

This course is Dually Enrolled with Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) and will take place at the VPCC Historic Triangle campus.

This course is the second in a sequence of courses that prepares students to render direct patient care as entry-level Nurse Aides In a variety of health service facilities. Students will apply and implement skills learned in Nurse Aide I, as well as continue to learn additional skills including clinical care of the acute medical-surgical patient, the chronically Ill, and the elderly; and therapeutic communication techniques to include addressing anger, assertiveness, and managing conflict. Off-site, on-the-job clinical instruction in a licensed healthcare facility Is part of the course. Upon successful completion of Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II, students will have earned CPR certification and will have the opportunity to take the certification exam for becoming a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in Virginia.
