Description

World Geography is the study of the earth’s physical features and their impact on human activity. A special emphasis is placed on cultural regions in Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Using a variety of tools and technologies, students will examine the five themes of geography (location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and region) and analyze their impact on current global issues. Hands-on activities will be used to analyze these issues, where students apply knowledge to propose ideas for solving local and global problems. This course is based on Standards of Learning from the Virginia Department of Education and prepares students for an SOL test on World Geography.
