All Williamsburg James-City County students have access to Microsoft Office programs through Microsoft Office 365. This is a web-based version of Microsoft Office programs which can be accessed anywhere, on any device with an internet connection. Programs available to students include, but are not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and Sway. Office 365 gives students and teachers a familiar but powerful set of tools for creation, collaboration, and productivity.
To access Office 365, students must have a WJCC issued account. This account is automatically created after the student is enrolled and entered into our division Student Information System. The account will remain active as long as the student is enrolled.
Students also have the opportunity to download Microsoft Office software on up to 5 personal devices. Please note: WJCC technology services cannot provide technical support for personal devices.
Office 365 accounts includes an email address through Microsoft Outlook which will become active when students enter 6th grade. At that time, student email is limited to other email accounts within the WJCC domain. Students cannot send or receive emails to or from outside email addresses. Beginning in 9th grade, student email addresses are unrestricted and can send and receive emails from addresses outside of WJCC. WJCC Public Schools monitors emails sent to or from their school-based Outlook email addresses.
Office365 includes access to OneDrive. OneDrive is cloud-based personal storage which can be accessed from any device that is connected to the internet. By saving files in OneDrive, students will have the ability to collaborate with peers in real time and share files with their teachers. Beginning in 4th grade, students will be creating an Academic Career Plan Portfolio which will be housed in OneDrive.
