SOL Schedule and Information

Dear Families,

As part of the Virginia State Assessment Program, 3rd-5th grade students in Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools will take the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests in May. We want to make you aware of the testing dates early in the second semester so that you can plan for your child to be at school for each test.

The SOL tests will take place during a four-week window, from May 13 – June 7, 2019.  Make-up testing will take place during the testing window.  Students will take all SOL tests online unless otherwise noted in an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan, or English Language Learner Plan. If you know in advance that your child will not attend school for one or more of the SOL test(s), please notify me in writing as soon as possible so that I can arrange for your child to make up the test(s) in a timely manner.

Students who receive a score between 375-399 (400 is passing) on any SOL test will be given the opportunity to retake their test.  You will be notified after your student completes their initial SOL test, if this applies to your child.  These retakes will only be given with your prior permission, and each student may only retake their SOL test one time per subject area.

Thank you for your support in preparing your child for the May SOL tests by encouraging them to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 258-3022 with any questions or concerns.
