The National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring a toy drive for the kids at CHKD Children’s Hospital. Your homeroom teachers will collect the toys. This toy drive lasts until December 19th, 2014. 6th Grade Up-Cycled Masks

Our 6th grade Visions students showed such creativity in designing their masks following the novel study of Nancy Farmer’s The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm. The “upcycled” mask creation was just one portion of an expository writing project where they wrote a summary of two articles about African masks and then wrote instructions for creating their personal masks.

It was hard to contain their excitement as they shared their process today.

Orchestra, Band, and Choir Concerts!

The Orchestra concert is December 9th at 7:00pm.

The Lois Hornsby M.S. Bands Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday night, Dec. 11, 2014 starting at 7:00 p.m. Because of limited space, Mr. Francis is asking that all sixth grade parents attend the concert at 7:00 p.m. for the sixth grade performances and the parents of the 7th & 8th grade performers, arrive at the performance between 7:15 and 7:20 p.m. If there is room, it would be great to have the sixth grade parents and students stay and listen to the older kids!
Cost: Donation of 2 non-perishable food items for a local charity or a Hornsby Middle School family in need.

The Choir concert is December 17th at 7:00pm.
