The Williamsburg-James City County Program for Gifted Students provides services for formally identified gifted students in grades K-12. Students are screened for gifted services twice a year (fall and spring).
We are currently accepting referrals for students in Kindergarten through fifth who have not been screened in the last year.
We are also taking referrals for the academic gifted identification process for rising fifth graders. It will take takes place this March. Referrals can be made by parent, teacher, other staff member, or self and the deadline is February 1, 2019. Referred 4th grade students will be screened for eligibility for gifted language arts and/or mathematics (6th grade math curriculum during 5th grade).
If you are interested in learning more about the gifted program, or would like to know if your child is a candidate for screening for gifted services, please contact Cheryl Holzschuh, the gifted resource teacher (3rd-5th) or Diane Huebner (K-2nd) here at J. B. Blayton. They can be reached by email at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE: If your child is currently enrolled in 4th grade gifted enrichment, he/she is not automatically placed in the academic classes. A student MUST BE REFERRED for this separate gifted program.
