Vision
The vision of the James Blair Middle School counseling department is to prepare all students to be knowledgeable, productive, and resourceful members of a global society. They will demonstrate self-advocacy, resiliency, and the mindsets and behaviors that show they are college and career ready; and are prepared to meet the challenges and expectations of the 21st century.
Mission
The mission of the James Blair Middle School counseling department is to promote the well-being of the whole child through a developmentally appropriate, equitable, and comprehensive school counseling program. All students will have equitable access to responsive services as well as preventative services that address their academic, social/emotional, and career needs. School counselors will promote mindsets and behaviors that enhance the learning process and create a culture of college and career readiness so that students are well prepared to meet the high expectations and rigor of being a 21st century learner. The school counseling program will create a positive, supportive, and culturally sensitive program to promote a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all. Through collaboration with students, teachers, families, and stakeholders, the school counselors will continuously advocate for equity and access to opportunities to allow students to become knowledgeable, productive, and resourceful members of a global community.
