DMWT students earn Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification

Over 90 percent of Mrs. Cornell’s Design, Multimedia, and Web-Technologies (DMWT) students earned Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification in PowerPoint 2010. Students took the certification test on May 28th or May 29th.

Test candidates need to score 700 points out of 1000 to pass. These 21 student’s earned scores ranging from 743 to 979. Five of the 21 students scored over 900 points.  Jamestown is very proud of these students who have added to their job skills!

Junior Mayee Chen Presents College Level Research

Junior Mayee Chen recently presented her research project titled “Applications of Mathematical Ecology to Rotational Grazing” at the Undergraduate Poster Session of the 2014 Joint Mathematics Meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland as one of very few high school participants. The annual conference is organized by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and is the largest gathering of mathematicians in the US. The project was supervised by Professor Junping Shi at the College of William and Mary and is also Mayee’s Honor Project at Jamestown High School.

In other mathematical honors Mayee received a perfect score in the 6-round competition, the Virginia Mathematics League, taking the first place in the entire state of Virginia. Mayee has received this honor for two consecutive years.
