First Meeting of NEHS Book Club

Members of the National English Honor Society Book Club met for the first time this week to discuss the book The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.  The book was a NEHS common read this summer.  Attending and pictured are: Nora Geer (organizer); Michaela Van Wicklin; Rylan Flint; Eliza Geer and Emily Hagy; Anne Kruegler and Regina Kruegler.  The Book Club is one of two new initiatives of NEHS this school year, along with the succesful implementation of a writing lab where members assist other students with their writing skills.  NEHS is sponsored by English teacher Valerie Smith.

Attention NEHS members: For one service hour, attend a book discussion for the Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd on Thursday, December 17th, in the library. Read the book, and bring your observations and thoughts. Again, you will receive one hour hour for attending.

All girls interested in playing field hockey next year: There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 2:30 PM in the Lecture Hall. Please bring a pen/pencil to the meeting.

This afternoon’s Ascent Lit Mag meeting has been cancelled.  Members should submit their required pieces to Mrs. Christie and/or Mrs. Graham-Galatro by the of this week.  Stay tuned for information on the next meeting.

The JHS Jazz Choir Performed Friday Evening at the Ice Pavilion in Colonial Williamsburg.

The Jamestown High School Choir and Orchestra Concert will take place Tuesday, December 15th in the Jamestown High School Auditorium at 7:00 PM. Join us for an evening of beautiful and warming winter music.

Seniors – it is the time to select your picture for the yearbook!  Go to Candidcolor.net – use your code (received from Candid Color with your proofs) and select your picture.  If you need assistance contact Ms. Green in room 138.  Deadline is Monday, December 14!
