JHS Students Named to VTA All Star Cast

Congratulations to members of the competition theatre team who competed at the Virginia Theatre Associations High School Theatre Festival on October 27. Jamestown students Abi Carter, Ben Paulk, and Jack Cherry were named to the VTA All Star Cast for their acting skills exhibited in Jamestown’s one act play.

Logan Atkins Recognized as 2017 Member of Army All-American Marching Band

Logan Atkins has been selected as a 2017 U.S. Army All-American, joining an elite group of marching band members who will perform during halftime at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band recognizes the top 125 high school senior marching musicians and color guard members from across the country, showcasing their talents during the largest celebration of high school football in America, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, televised live on NBC at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017.

Attention all key club members, the T-shirt and Dodge ball deadline has been extended until Friday.

Interested in publishing your art or literary compositions in a magazine? The JHS Arts and Literary Magazine is now accepting submissions for this year’s volume. Our theme is progression. Incorporate your own interpretation of the theme into your artwork or writing. We will be accepting submissions until late January. Turn in your submissions to Mr. Pritchard in room 181 or to your English teacher. We look forward to seeing your creativity!

The library will be closed after school today.

October is disability awareness month. Join us tomorrow by wearing your favorite superhero T-shirt for Superhero’s for Disabilities.

Attention all key club members, the T-shirt and Dodge ball deadline has been extended until Friday.

There will be a brief interest meeting for any students interested in pole vault or throws for the coming indoor track season after school on Tuesday, October 25th in room 235.  The meeting will only last 15-20 minutes, so please make arrangements for transportation, if necessary.

Indoor Track will start on November 7th. For those interested please get your physicals. Come out and try a great sport. We are looking for sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, throwers, distance runners and vaulters!

German Career Day

Students from Warhill, Lafayette and Jamestown were invited by the Washington Goethe Institute to participate in a unique German career day. Representatives from German universities talked about studying in Germany. There are over a 1000 undergraduate and graduate courses of study, that are taught in English!
Thanks to German taxpayers, the tuition is free for students (except for a $200 registration fee per semester), which also includes free student passes for public transportation.
 
Our special thanks to Mrs. Hemberger from the Goethe Institute Washington, who coordinated this event.

The Military ASVAB will be October 26th at 7:25 am. You MUST sign up in the counseling office if you are planning on taking the test no later then Monday October 24th. Please see your counselor with any questions.

Hey Eagles!  Plan to come to our PTSA’s FIRST spirit night of the year at MOE’S today from 4 to 9 pm. Stop in after parent–teacher conferences or come for dinner before the football game. Students tickets for the football game vs. Smithfield will be on sale today from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm in the main office. Tickets are $3.00 and you may only purchase one ticket. Only Jamestown High School students will be admitted with a student ticket-all others will be denied entry into the game. If you purchase tickets at the stadium, they will be $6.00 each.
