Announcements for November 30, 2016

Attention National English Honor Society members – if you have signed up for the Berkeley Middle School tutoring today, please arrive no later than 3 p.m!

This week is our Fall Play, Peter and the Starcatcher. Come see a comedic, grown up prequel to the Peter Pan story featuring some of Jamestown’s great talent. The show runs Thursday and Friday at 7pm and we have two shows on Saturday. Tickets are discounted for $8 in advance and can be purchased at lunch. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Auditions for the Spring Musical will be held next week. Our musical is Aida featuring the music of Elton John and a story that takes place in Egypt. Come get more information from Mr. Stone in room 182 and sign up for an audition time for next Wednesday OR Thursday afterschool. All are welcome to audition for the Spring Musical.

Attention any girl interested in playing soccer this season at JHS: There will be an informational meeting today, Nov. 30 at 2:30 pm in room 161.

Seniors:  Please have your college January 1 deadline applications in to your counselor before December 9, 2016 to ensure your recommendations and transcripts are received by the deadline.

An important message for all college-bound seniors: today is the very last Tribe College Outreach.  Volunteers from William and Mary will be in room 113, directly across from the cafeteria, after school to help with college applications and essays.  Bring whatever materials you want help with.  This is your last opportunity for this terrific and free opportunity to prep college apps.

The last chance to have your picture taken (including senior portraits) is Friday, December 9 from 8-11 in the auditorium.   Students who purchased pictures may have a retake made on Friday, December 9 from 8-11 in the auditorium.  Questions should be directed to Ms. Green in room 152.

HBCU College Fair at Lafayette High School, Saturday November 19th from 10am-2pm. Free Admission and open to the public.

Attention any student who wants to attend the volleyball state championship game on Saturday, Nov. 19 @ Seigel Center in Richmond: there will be a student but that will depart JHS at 2:00 pm on Saturday and return to JHS immediately following the game.  The only cost is the price of the ticket – $10.   If interested, stip by room 154 to pick up your parental permission slip and sign the list. The permission slip must be turned in by Friday, Nov.  18, in order to ride the bus.

The Girls Cross Country team finished 9th in the 4A State meet.  Thorin Jean was All-state and finished 12th she was followed by Kirsten Long, Taylor Stutt, Sorenna Jean, Nicole Grogan  Lauren Connell and Samantha Keener!

The Boys Cross Country team finished 4th in the 4A State Cross Country Meet.  The boys team was led by Calvin Hart, Taylor Beall, Rylan Flint, Will Plante, Jyrec McCray, Clarke Agnew and Will Middlebrooks.   The boys overall ranking at the end of the year was 15th with all classifications!

Come and join the Foreign Film Club on Tuesday, November 15th after school in Room 220. We will be watching a Chinese martial arts film called Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We hope to see you there.

The Fishing Club will be collecting money for T-shirts. The T-shirts are $14 and money should be given to Mr. Eames in room 234.
