Jamestown Students Ranked in top 10% At Forestry Camp

Three rising JHS tenth grade students placed within the top 10% out of 54 of Virginia’s top science students at the June 2017 Virginia Department of Forestry sponsored Forestry Camp. These awards are given out once a year to 4 outstanding graduating seniors. The JHS Golden Talon Award is awarded to the 2 students who best represent the ideals of JHS (scholarship, integrity, participation, and humility). The 2017 recipients of the Golden Talon awards are Ezra Bass (far left) and Nicholas Zhang (2nd from left). The JHS Eagle Award is awarded to 2 students who thrive despite significant challenges. This year’s recipients of the Eagle Award are Darcey Still (2nd from right) and Lauren Morris(far right). Congratulations!

Mr. Dubay Honored for Service

Envirothon Team Coach Charlie Dubay was recognized by his team for 20 years of service.  The award winning team presented Mr. Dubay with a custom made quilt to honor his many years of dedicated volunteer work.

Attention students interested in joining Gang Green – we have our last meeting  today, June 7 after school in the cafeteria.  Please have your form and money ready to turn in!

Please congratulate the boys the Boys Outdoor Track team for a great team effort in being the 4A State Runner Up for Outdoor Track. Jordan Willis was state Champion in the 200meter, 400m and Long Jump! He also was state Champion in the 4 x 100m with the team of Darius Reed, Zach Pennycuff and Taylor Beau. The boys 4 x800m team placed 5th and were all state with the team of Clarke Agnew, Will Middlebrooks, Ben Keener and Peter Stiglitz. Darius Reed was all state 100m placing 4th. Zach Pennycuff was all state in the 200m placing 3rd  and Rylan Flint  was all state in the 3200 meter run placing 8th. Please congratulate  Clarke Agnew, Peter Stiglitz, Thorin Jean, Kirsten Long, Olivia Patrinicola and Lauren Connell, and  Mariella Smith for competing at the 4A state meet in individual events.

During AEP, there  will be a meeting for all students enrolled to take AP Lang and Composition next school year.  We will discuss and handout the reading assignment for the course. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria.

Learn to Fly through the Williamsburg Aviation Scholarship Program. Applications and more information  are available through high school counselors, at the Williamsburg Jamestown Airport and online on the Jamestown webpage.  You could get your Private Pilot license.

Parking applications for next school year are now available on-line or students may pick up an application in the Main office or Mrs. Deal’s Office room 206.

Parking Registration begins June 1, 2017.

Parking permits will be available for pick-up for approved students beginning August 21st, 2017 OR  students may supply a self-addressed stamped envelope with their application and receive their permit by mail. Please obtain your permit application and complete the process prior to the first day of school and avoid the Fall rush!

Kiwanis Awards to Our Eagles

Two Jamestown students were recently recognized by the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club. Freshman Sorenna Jean (left) won the Kiwanis Club Delaney Award for outstanding community service.  Senior Will Bell, (right) won the Kiwanis Club Teenager of the Year Award.  We are proud of their outstanding achievements.
