Announcements for October 31, 2017

  • Anyone interested in running the Sleighbell 5k?  Jamestown High School will have a high school group run at the Sleighbell 5k.  Please see Mr. Habersham or Coach Tompkins for an application sheet.  We will have our first running club session after school next Thursday from 2:45-4:30pm.  Meet at the track.  You must have a completed running club form filled out to participate.  You can also pick up forms at lunch or outside room 134.
  • Picture Day!  Attention!!! Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors! Monday and Tuesday pictures will be taken during your English, History, or Health and PE classes.   Check with your teacher for your time slot.  Questions? See Ms. Green in room 152.

Huge Win for JHS Theatre

Congratulations to the Jamestown Theatre Competition Team who had an excellent weekend of competition and theater at the Virginia Theatre Association’s Annual Convention. Jamestown competed against 57 other schools and came in overall runner up. Jamestown was invited to represent the State of Virginia at a national conference.  VTA is the largest state theatre organization in the United States and SETC is the largest regional theatre conference in the United States.

The team also won the following awards for their presentation of their original play entitled Immersed:

-Judges Special Award for use of music

-Best Technical Merit for use of set, costumes, light, and sound

-Best Original Play

-All Star Cast award to Junior Ben Paulk

-Best Performer Junior Jack Cherry

-State of Virginia Finalist

Congratulations to the members of the Jamestown Theatre Program! They will compete again with an adapted version of this production at Lafayette High School on Saturday, November 11 in VHSL competition.

  • Seniors – On Monday, October 30th, the Senior group picture will be taken in the main gym at 8:00.
  • Student tickets for the football game vs. Warhill will be on sale today, (10/27) from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm in the main office.  Tickets are $3.00.  If you purchase tickets at the stadium, they will be $6.00 each.

Dual Enrollment Opportunities

Mrs. Mustard’s new College Composition class worked with Thomas Nelson Community College staff and their parents to select their second semester classes at TNCC.  In this dual enrollment opportunity, students choose classes including Speech, Psychology, Sociology, Math and more.
