This week our FBLA students (Future Business Leaders of America) are raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During lunches, we are having a grade level competition. The grade that donates the most money by Friday will earn a special prize.  Please donate your spare change as we collect”Pennies for Patients”
Fact:  Leukemia is a blood disease that affects over 1 million people in the US each year.

JHS Theater represents VA at the SETC High School Festial

Members of the Jamestown Theatre program took their original one act play to the South Eastern Theatre Conference to represent the state of Virginia at the SETC High School Theatre Festival. They participated in workshops, presentations, and auditions as well. Ben Paulk was named a part of the All Star Cast and Jack Cherry was named Best Supporting Actor!

The Library will be closed today during all lunches  and close this afternoon at 2:30 please plan ahead.

It is that time of year again: Pennies for Patients for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This week our FBLA students (Future Business Leaders of America) are raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During lunches, we are having a grade level competition. The grade that donates the most money by Friday will earn a special prize. Please donate your spare change as we collect “Pennies for Patients.” In addition, you can drop off your spare change in the main office, in the Media Center, or in the Guidance Office. Your donations help fund further research.

Attention 10th grade students: Are you uncertain about what career you’re interested in pursuing after high school? The School Counseling Department is hosting a Career Café on Fridays during lunches. Bring your lunch, bring a friend, and bring your desire to prepare for your future. If interested, sign-up as soon as possible in the School Counseling Office, or with one of your 10th grade teachers.

West Point’s SouthEast Regional Admissions representative, will be at Regent University on 27 March 2018 from 6:30-8:30 PM to discuss admissions opportunities.  For more information see your counselor.

Exceptional Eagles are hosting a dodgeball tournament on March 29th right after school.  Each team will consist of 6 boys and 6 girls.  The cost will be $10 per a person.  If you are interested please stop by rm 128 to get a form.

National School Walkout: Parent Information

WJCC Middle & High School Families,

On March 14, 2018, students across the country are planning to walk out of school at 10 a.m. for 17 minutes to honor each of the victims of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting. In WJCC, middle and high school students have told us that they plan to participate in the National School Walkout.

While WJCC does not sanction or endorse the walkout, we recognize our students’ rights to peacefully assemble and freely express their opinions on ways to improve school safety. Groups of students have thoughtfully and respectfully shared their plans with school administrators, and we will continue to work with them to ensure that the walkout is purposeful and orderly.

Students who participate in the walkout will be able to make-up work missed during the event; however, students who leave their school campus or who otherwise disrupt the school day will be subject to disciplinary action as detailed in our Code of Conduct.

We are working closely with our school staff and School Resource Officers to identify procedures that keep our students safe and that limit disruption for students who do not wish to participate. To ensure that the walkout is comprised only of students, we will limit community access to our middle and high schools, and, for the duration of the walkout, no students will be released for appointments or other reasons. We thank you for your cooperation and ask that you please plan ahead if your middle or high school student needs to be released early on March 14.

Virginia’s new Profile of a Graduate identifies Community Engagement and Civic Responsibility as areas for us to develop the life-ready individual, and this event provides us with an opportunity for a ‘teachable moment’ for all of our students.
