National English Honor Society applications are due by Friday, September 28 at 2:30 to Mrs. Christie in Room 213.

Student tickets for the homecoming football game vs. New Kent will be on sale Friday, Sept. 28th from 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the main office.  Tickets are $3.00.  Only Jamestown High School students will be admitted with a student ticket — adults or students from other schools with student tickets will be denied entry into the game.  If you purchase tickets at the stadium, they will be $6.00 each.

 

Announcements for September 27, 2018

Homecoming is almost here and tickets are now on sale.  During lunches from Monday until Thursday, purchase your homecoming dance ticket for 15.00.  Tickets must be purchased by the end of lunch Thursday, and will NOT be sold at the door.  Enjoy a night under the neon lights, with music, games, food, and drinks and show your Jamestown pride.

The Latin Club will meet this Thursday, September 27th, after school in Room 220. Any students who have not yet joined, but would like to, are welcome. Also anyone not currently enrolled in Latin who is interested in attending the Junior Classical League Convention needs to see Mrs. Sharp, or email her, THIS WEEK.

The vehicles & student drivers parking at JHS without a parking permit have been identified this week and their names have been put on the debt list. You will not be able to purchase a Homecoming ticket until you get your Fall parking permit. Please see Mrs. Deal in room 206 to do so as soon as possible.

The Exceptional Eagles will be having their first meeting this Thursday, September 27th from 2:30-3:00 in rm 129.

Students interested in joining FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), need to pick up an application and pay your $12 dues no later than today (Wed., September 26). You can pay one of the business teachers:  Mrs. Cornell, Mrs. Green or Mrs. Stowers in the School Store or in Room 149, 151, or 152.

To earn this coveted award, a school must have achieved an 80% passing rate on our Financial Literacy Certification Test and have EITHER a majority of students on a given grade level take the Test OR achieve a minimum average score of 85%.

Today is the blood drive. Those signed up come to the auditorium during you scheduled time and be sure to bring a picture ID.  Thanks for giving the greatest of gifts, the gift of life!

Seniors: MAKEUP PICTURES WILL BE ON OCTOBER 29 AT 2:30 O N L Y!!!!! You must sign up with Ms. Green in room 152. Picture day for underclassmen will be October 29 & 30.

The Jamestown Homecoming is fast approaching, and with that in mind, the SCA is happy to announce our dance for 2018 – Glow.  Come bask in a bright neon vibe, with dancing, indoor and outdoor games, food, and drinks.  Tickets will be 15.00 and go on sale during lunches starting Monday, September 24th.

Also for homecoming 2018, volunteer to stay after school on Friday, September 21st to deck the halls for Spirit Week.  Show some pride for your class, and enjoy free pizza from the SCA.  Talk to your class officers to let them know you’re staying.

If you turned in a National English Honor Society application at the end of last school year, please see Mrs. Chrisites as soon as possible in room 213.

Anyone interested in trying out for the fall play should get more information outside of the theatre room on the arts hall, room 182. The play is a staged version of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. Auditions for the play are next Monday and Tuesday. See Mr. Stone with questions.

 

Jamestown High School Named 2018-2020 National PTA School of Exellence

The School Board congratulated two WJCC schools and their PTA organizations for being named 2018-20 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Schools receiving this distinction are known for their commitment to build strong family-school partnerships. The recognition is awarded when a PTA and school have achieved high levels of family engagement or when a PTA and school have made substantive, positive improvement in families’ perceptions by the end of the school year.
