Face-to-face and side-by-side: that’s how the Class of 2021 will celebrate their graduation. Commencement exercises will take place at Wanner Stadium on June 18-19. The stadium holds a special place in many students’ hearts as the site of football games and other sporting events.
During the formal ceremonies, graduates will be seated six feet apart on the football field before walking across the stage to receive their diplomas. Face coverings will be worn by graduates, speakers, and guests.
To ensure proper social distancing and compliance with the State’s guidelines for high school graduations, each senior will receive three (3) tickets for family members. Spectators are not allowed in the stadium parking lot. Ceremonies will stream live on the school division website. School division staff looked at multiple venues in hopes of finding a location in the city or county that could accommodate a larger crowd. Unfortunately, seating was limited for every site.
Duke of Gloucester Street Parade
You don’t need a ticket for the Class of 2021 parade down Duke of Gloucester Street. Seniors are encouraged to decorate their cars for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Parades will air live on the WJCC Schools Facebook page.
Each high school will provide more information about graduation ceremonies and senior events in the coming weeks.
