Students, want to kick start your career while you are still in high school? Check out the New Horizons Open House Thursday February, 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 in Hampton and Newport News. You could take a class in criminal justice and work with the FBI, get certified in cyber-security or spend your days with animals in the veterinary assistance program. More information is available on the school website.
Today is the third day of “National School Counseling Week” and I would like to begin today’s message with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. She once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” What can you do to achieve your dreams? Work hard? Sure. Write down your dream on a piece of paper so you can see it every day? Of course. But there is one simple thing you must do in order to achieve your dreams-set goals.
Goals, similar to dreams, are things you aspire to do. You can have a goal to get a certain grade in your most challenging class. You can have a goal to create a time management plan for tackling your work. You can even have a goal to wake up a bit earlier each day so you won’t rush in the mornings before school. If you need help with setting your own goals, make sure to stop by and see your school counselor! Keep your eye on the prize today!
