Do you love preforming and being part of a team? If so, the Jamestown Color Guard is right for you. Come down to the band room May 1st, 2nd and 15th from 2:30 to 3:45 for a clinic.  Hope to see you there.

The Jamestown Cross Country team will be recruiting this week.  We have a Cross Country party with free pizza and ice cream on June 5th from 6-8 pm. Please consider signing up with one of the Cross Country runners during lunch on one of the blue clipboards.  Ask for an invitation to a the great Kick-off Party.  We will be watching parts of the Long Green line and McFarland.

Auditions for the JHS Talent Show will take place on May 15th and 16th in the JHS Choir Room. All interested musicians, actors, comedians, poets, magicians, jugglers, and other creative types are encouraged to audition.Please see Mrs. Christensen for more details.

Jamestown seniors, can you believe that you have only two months left of high school?  That’s right, graduation is right around the corner.  Do you want to be one of two students selected by the school to speak at graduation?  Do you have something inspiring, moving, insightful, or otherwise valuable to share with all members of the graduating class of 2017?  Pick up a graduation speaker application in the main office.  Completed applications are due back in the main office today, April 28.  No late applications will be accepted.

Announcements for September 7, 2016

Applications for freshmen class officers are due in the guidance office by Friday, September 9th.  Any questions should be directed to Mrs. Sorrell in room 146.

Fall parking permits must be purchased and displayed on your vehicles starting Monday, September 12th.  Continuing to park on school grounds after this date without a permit will result in disciplinary action and denial of entry to upcoming school sponsored events.  Get your permits today from Mrs. Deal in room 206.

All those students interested in joining the Jamestown High School Latin Club, becoming part of the National Latin Honor Society or attending the Virginia Junior Classical League convention in November should attend an interest meeting after school at 2:30 on Tuesday, September 13th in Room 150

There will be a meeting for all current Student 2 Student Ambassadors and newly invited S2S ambassadors on today, after school in the library.

Join us for a short play festival Friday at 3:30pm-4:30pm in room 182 the theatre classroom!  Admission is free to see three plays directed by and featuring Jamestown Students.

Attention Faculty, Students, and Staff:Our BayPort Credit Union will be closing for the school year next Thursday, May 26.  If you are interested in opening an account, depositing money, or withdrawing money from your account, please plan to do so no later than next Thursday, May 26! It’s been a pleasure serving you this school year and we look forward to next year!

Attention Juniors and Seniors-Voting for this year’s prom King and Queen is available on the JHS website. You have until  noon to cast your vote.

SHIP is sponsoring a new salad naming contest. Submit salad name ideas at the table outside of the cafeteria for a chance to win 5 free salads from the JHS salad bar.

Calling all Juniors and Seniors: Get your tickets during all lunches this week for Saturday’s Late Night Out/After Prom Party. Cost is $15.oo per person for unlimited bowling, lots of free food, a photo booth, and great prizes. See you there.

Calling All Juniors and Seniors to this year’s Late Night Out/After Prom party at the Williamsburg Bowling Lanes on Sat, 21 May from 11:00 pm to 2:30 am. Lots of free food, unlimited bowling, music, games, and great PRIZES!!! Tickets are $15 per person and will be on sale May 16-20th during all lunches.

Buffalo Wild Wings is hosting Spirit Week today through Thursday, May 5th to benefit the JHS PTSA Late Night Out/After Prom event. Please go eat in or take out some great food from Buffalo Wild Wings and be sure to mention Jamestown High School PTSA.

Are you interested in the opportunity to represent your class as a speaker at graduation? If so, this is your chance! All interested seniors need to get a 2016 Graduation Speaker Application from Mrs. Miller in the main office. Please follow the directions detailed on the application and be prepared to turn in your essay on May 6th. In addition, you will need to attend a mandatory interview on May 10th. The committee is looking forward to hearing from you!

Attention all Juniors and Seniors: As prom approaches please be mindful that if you have any outstanding debts that need to be paid or overdue books that need to be returned make sure you do so. You will not be permitted to purchase a prom ticket until your debts have been cleared. Don’t procrastinate as tickets go on sale soon.

Junior/Senior Prom 2016 “A Night at Gatsby” tickets go on sale Monday May 16th-May 20th during lunches only! $35.00 per ticket. DATE REQUEST FORMS AVAILABLE IN MAIN OFFICE- must be completed and returned by May 19th. Tickets will NOT be sold after lunch on May 20th. GUESTS THAT DO NOT ATTEND JHS WILL NEED A PICTURE ID TO ENTER

Attention all Key Club members. We are extending our food drive until Wednesday.  Please bring in canned goods to receive hours. Also please remember to sign up for the Kiwanis BBQ Dinner on Saturday.  Many volunteers are still needed!

There will be a brief Student 2 Student ambassador meeting today, April 29th in the library during AEP.  Stop by the library if you need a pass.

Attention Graduating Seniors:  The Jamestown High School Athletic Booster Club scholarship program recognizes graduating student athletes with a one-time monetary award to offset the costs of educational opportunities after high school.  Applicants will be considered based on athletic participation and achievement, good sportsmanship and citizenship, and engagement in school/community service.  You may download the application from the athletic website:  JHSAthletics. org or stop by room 154 to pick up an application.

Attention all NEHS members: If you are interested in buying a shirt, please bring $14 to Ms. Smith before or after school in office 214 no later than Friday, April 29.

March is Theatre In Our Schools Month. Today members of the International Thespian Honor Society are wearing show t-shirts from shows they were proud cast or crew members of in the past. There are two great ways to celebrate Theatre in Our Schools Month with us—first come see Footloose next week. Tickets will be on sale during all lunches starting Monday. Another great way to celebrate is to sign up to take a theatre class here at Jamestown. If you have questions about classes, tickets, or Footloose, talk to a theatre student or Mr. Stone.
