Announcements for September 21, 2018

Today is the blood drive. Those signed up come to the auditorium during you scheduled time and be sure to bring a picture ID.  Thanks for giving the greatest of gifts, the gift of life!

Seniors: MAKEUP PICTURES WILL BE ON OCTOBER 29 AT 2:30 O N L Y!!!!! You must sign up with Ms. Green in room 152. Picture day for underclassmen will be October 29 & 30.

The vehicles & student drivers parking at JHS without a parking permit have been identified this week and their names have been put on the debt list. You will not be able to purchase a Homecoming ticket until you get your Fall parking permit. Please see Mrs. Deal in room 206 to do so as soon as possible.

The Jamestown Homecoming is fast approaching, and with that in mind, the SCA is happy to announce our dance for 2018 – Glow.  Come bask in a bright neon vibe, with dancing, indoor and outdoor games, food, and drinks.  Tickets will be 15.00 and go on sale during lunches starting Monday, September 24th.

Also for homecoming 2018, volunteer to stay after school on Friday, September 21st to deck the halls for Spirit Week.  Show some pride for your class, and enjoy free pizza from the SCA.  Talk to your class officers to let them know you’re staying.

If you turned in a National English Honor Society application at the end of last school year, please see Mrs. Chrisites as soon as possible in room 213.

Anyone interested in trying out for the fall play should get more information outside of the theatre room on the arts hall, room 182. The play is a staged version of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. Auditions for the play are next Monday and Tuesday. See Mr. Stone with questions.

Back-to-School Night gives our families the opportunity to learn more about their students’ courses, teachers, and routines.
If you have multiple students at JHS, please contact your students’ teachers, and they can relay information to you.
Parents can schedule individual conferences with teachers to discuss their student’s learning progress, strengths, and other topics.
Jamestown High School will host Parent Conference Night on October 16th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

 

Jamestown High School Named 2018-2020 National PTA School of Exellence

The School Board congratulated two WJCC schools and their PTA organizations for being named 2018-20 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Schools receiving this distinction are known for their commitment to build strong family-school partnerships. The recognition is awarded when a PTA and school have achieved high levels of family engagement or when a PTA and school have made substantive, positive improvement in families’ perceptions by the end of the school year.

The boys and girls Cross Country teams took first place against Smithfield and York in there first Bay River District meet. The overall winners were Will Plante for the boys and Kirsten Long for the girls. The top five for the Jamestown boys were: Will Plante, Taylor Beall, Andrew Denny, Gabe Le Goullec and Dominic Molendyke.  The top five for the Jamestown girls were: Kirsten Long, Caroline Bauer, Taylor Sutt, Sorenna Jean and Abbie Harris.The whole team will compete at Milestat Relays on Saturday night!
