It is hard to believe we are about to finish first semester this school year. Final exams begin this week and the third marking period is just around the corner. As we move into second semester, we look for many opportunities to embrace our partnerships with families and the community. Let us continue to work together to inspire, motivate, and keep all of our students focused on their pathway to success.
The countdown is officially on for our seniors. Graduation day will be here before you know it. Families are encouraged to check our website, twitter, Remind 101, and Parent VUE about any information pertaining to academics, senior activities, and graduation information. Students, please communicate information with your families, and make sure you purchase your Cap and Gown through Balfour. We have a designated senior information tab on our website. Graduation is at 9:00 AM on June 17th at William and Mary Hall.
The freshman class is planning a Sadie Hawkins Dance for February 11th from 8:00PM to 11:00PM in the gym. Tickets are $10.00 and will be sold during lunches only from February 7th to February 10th. A date request form for guests who do not attend JHS must be turned in to the Main Office by Friday, February 10th at 8:00 AM.
Jamestown is currently tied for first place in the Virginia Math League Contests. There are two more contest dates (February 7th and March 14th) for this year. The top 20 cumulative scorers by the February 7th contest date will have the opportunity to compete in the AMC 12 Math Contest sponsored here at JHS.
Highly motivated students interested in pursuing a WJCC Honors diploma are encouraged to investigate the Honors Program information available on the WJCC Program of Studies and Curriculum websites. Honors graduates complete a rigorous course of study at Jamestown, plus design, complete, and present independent service and research projects. Students are allowed to propose project ideas for approval through the middle of their junior year, and interested parties should feel free to contact Mr. Lampert for more information.
Last chance for juniors to apply for admission is February 14th. Mr. Lampert will be holding a workshop for any freshman, sophomore, or junior student interested in applying to the Honors Program; it will be held during AEP on Tuesday, January 31st, the first day of second semester in room 113.
As second semester is imminent, seniors and parents should watch @JtownVisions Twitter and the bulletin board in the main hallway for scholarship information.
