Daily Announcements for November 9, 2015

The holidays are right around the corner!  During this time of year, let us take a moment to think about the families in our community who are not fortunate enough to have meals during Thanksgiving.  Today through November 13, during homeroom, bring in your assigned items to help provide families in need with a perfect Thanksgiving meal.  If you are not assigned a food item but wish to donate please bring your food donations to Officer Ferriero’s office. The goal this year is to fill Officer Ferriero’s Cruiser with food to be delivered to the community.  Let’s come together Jamestown and Stuff the Cruiser!

Attention, seniors.  Tribe College Outreach has two weeks left at Jamestown High School.  If you would like help from college students who have successfully completed the application process in the past – help with apps, with the college search, with essays, with mock interviews, with whatever – then come to Mr. Lampert’s room, #113, after school tomorrow.  That’s Tuesday, November 10th from 2:30 to 3:30.  Only two weeks left, so get the free help while you can.

The Library will be closing at 2:45 today.

The Manga Club will meet Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 2:30 in the library.

Attention any student who wants to try out for a winter sport; tryouts begin on Monday, Nov. 9:  Swimming tryouts: 4:45 am at Longhill Rec Center

Boys Basketball: 2:30-4:00 pm in the Main Gym

Gilrs Basketball: 4:00-5:30 pm in the Main Gym

Wrestling: meet at 2:30 pm in room 161

You must have a completed physical form on file with the Athletic Director in order to tryout for any sport.

Attention FBLA and CBE Work Study Students: Please turn in your Virginia Diner and Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie orders and money to Mrs. Stowers no later than Tomorrow, Thursday, November 5. Again, please turn in orders and money to Mrs. Stowers in Room 149 no later than tomorrow for the VA Diner and Cookie Dough orders.”

Want to eat great food and support Jamestown? Come to Spirit Night at Zoe’s Kitchen  on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 4 pm  to 9 pm. No need to say you’re from Jamestown; just come have a great dinner and raise money for the JHS PTSA. Money raised will benefit you!

Any girls that are interested in trying out for either Varsity or JV soccer in the spring should attend to meet the coaches & captions and find out about preseason training !

The holidays are right around the corner!  During this time of year, let us take a moment to think about the families in our community who are not fortunate enough to have meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Every year families struggle to provide meals to their loved ones and now is the time to help change that.  Today through November 13, bring in nonperishable food items for families in need to enjoy during the holiday season.  All items can be brought to Officer Ferriero’s Office.  The goal this year is to fill Officer Ferriero’s Cruiser with food to be delivered to the community.  Let’s come together Jamestown and Stuff the Cruiser!

Don’t forget!  This Friday is the last day to enter the PTSA Reflections Arts Contest. All entries with their entry forms should be turned in to the blue Reflections box in the main office by Friday. If your entry will be late, please leave your name and contact info in the blue box by the end of school Friday.

The week of October 26th, Jamestown will host representatives from the following colleges: Davidson College, the University of Richmond, the University of Kansas, Sacred Heart University, and the University of Maine. Schools from all over the country want to meet with our juniors and seniors! Please sign up in Guidance at least one day in advance. Also, Barbizon USA will visit during all three lunch periods on Tuesday, October 27th and offer scholarship opportunities of up to $100,000! Look for them outside of the cafeteria on Tuesday.

St. Andrews University is joining the list of colleges that will be visiting Jamestown this week. Sign-up in Guidance.

The Cleveland Institute of Art will be visiting this Friday, October 30th. This is an exciting opportunity for students who are interested in careers in a variety of art-related fields. Sign-up in Guidance by Thursday afternoon for this college visit.

Tribe College Outreach mentors will be here Tuesday to work with seniors on college applications and college essays. They will meet after school from 2:30-3:30 in Lab 113. Interested in attending? See Mr Lampert in Room 113 for more information.

Attention Students, Faculty, and Staff:  FBLA and CBE Students are raising money by selling from two brochures–The Virginia Diner and Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough.  If you are interested in looking at these brochures, see an FBLA or CBE Work Study Student.  Faculty and Staff:  these order forms and booklets are in the mailroom for you to look through if you are interested.  This sale is running for two weeks!
