The Library will be closed after school today.

There will be a National Art Honor Society meeting this Thursday 3/12 right after school in Mr. Pritchards room!

There will be a Key Club meeting next Tuesday at 2:30 in the cafeteria.  We will be electing next year’s officers.  All current members can vote for the officers, too.

Attention juniors and seniors: NOVA Southeastern University will be here on Monday, March 16, at 9 a.m.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office by Friday, March 13.  See Mrs. Pottle in Guidance if you have any questions.

This week is pi week! Each day there will be a question involving pi. Submit your answer to the media center before the end of fourth block to enter a daily drawing to win an actual, edible pie. In addition, there will be pi day activities during lunches on Thursday. Thursday: Mr. Eames is trying to make a giant orange pie. He has oranges that are 4 inches in diameter including the rind, and the rind is a quarter inch thick. If the pie requires a cubic foot of oranges (excluding the rind), how many oranges does Mr. Eames need?

Attention Students, Faculty & Staff: This week during all lunch blocks, FBLA Students are collecting your spare change to help support our Pennies for Patients program. Tomorrow is the last day to donate your spare change to our cause.  The grade level with the most donations will be recognized in a few days. Did you know… Males are expected to account for approximately 57 percent of new cases of leukemia.

There will be a meeting for all students interested in outdoor track today after school in the Lecture Hall.

There will be a Relay for Life meeting Wednesday, March 11th at 2:30 in room 219. This in an important meeting.

Operation Smile will meet Wednesday, March 25th after school in room 180.

This week is pi week! Each day there will be a question involving pi. Submit your answer to the media center before the end of fourth block to enter a daily drawing to win an actual, edible pie. In addition, there will be pi day activities during lunches on Thursday.  Wednesday: a square is inscribed within a circle of radius 7 inches. In square inches, what is the area inside the circle but outside the square? Your answer must be exact or rounded to the nearest hundredth. See the math bulletin board for a diagram.

Seniors: the $50 deposit for the Senior Trip will be collected Today during ALL 3 lunches. Today, March 10th is the last day to turn in your deposit. Don’t let money stop you from going on the senior trip: Any senior who would like to pay for the senior trip through fundraising needs to see Mrs. Berry in room 245 by Today.

The Football Parent/Athlete Information Night has been moved to Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 pm in the JHS Cafeteria.

Boys Tennis* – 4:00 in Auxiliary Gym

Varsity & JV Boys Soccer* – 5:30 in Both Gyms

Varsity & JV Baseball – 6:30 in Weight Room, 7:00 in Both Gyms

*Soccer & Tennis should also be prepared to practice outside if WSC fields and/or tennis courts are cleared of snow. Listen to announcements for any changes.

Daily Announcements for February 24, 2015

Tickets for the Jamestown High School musical, The Addams Family will be going on sale starting Monday, February 23rd during all lunch shifts. The show times are Thursday, March 5th at 7:00, Friday, March 6th at 7:00, and two performances on Saturday, March 7th, a matinee performance at 2 pm., with a flat rate of seven dollars, and the final performance at 7:00. Tickets are $8 dollars for students and $10 for adults and will be sold during all lunches through Friday, March 6th. Tickets will also be sold at the door. We look forward to seeing you at the show!

Senior Trip Reminder:  Don’t forget to turn in your nonrefundable deposit of $50.00. Deposit Due: Thurs., Feb 26th and Fri., Feb 27th during all 3 lunches.  We will not accept any deposits after Feb. 27th.  Any senior with financial concerns or who would like to participate in fundraising to pay for their trip, see Mrs. Berry in Room 245 or Ms. Ridley in room 146.

Yoga club begins again February 25th. See Mrs. Christensen to fill out a waiver to participate if you have not already done so. The club will meet in room 183 from 2:45-3:45.

Model UN members who will attend the Governor’s School Conference, please plan to meet Wednesday after school.  Other team members who would like to assist in research are also welcome.
