Goal 1:

During the 2016-17 school year, JHS will increase its overall Math SOL scores for students with disabilities from 70% to 73% and/or to 75% with the inclusion of locally verified credits.

Strategies:

  1. JHS math teachers and support staff will provide supplemental support for students in the form of remediation during the school day and/or after school tutoring.
  2. JHS teachers will increase student engagement by applying meta-cognitive teaching strategies in instructional lessons.

Goal 2:

During the 2016-17 school year, JHS increase its overall Writing SOL scores for students with disabilities in writing from 67% to 70%, and/or to 72% with the inclusion of locally verified credits.

Strategies:

  1. JHS will improve writing skills for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students focusing on grammar and composition skills, identify students in need of supplemental support, and provide remediation during the school day or after school tutoring.
  2. JHS teachers will increase student engagement by applying meta-cognitive teaching strategies in instructional lessons.

Goal 3:

During the 2016-17 school year, JHS will promote 95% of the 330 students currently enrolled in the 2019 cohort to 11th grade status by the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.

Strategies:

  1. JHS teachers and support staff will utilize Focus Group student list to evaluate, intervene, and monitor specific student progress.
  2. JHS teachers will utilize Compass learning to measure enrollment in credit recovery, facilitate credit recovery, and monitor student progress.
