Standard Diploma:  Effective with first-time ninth graders in 2018-2019 and beyond

To receive a Standard Diploma, a stuent will be required to complete 22 credits with 5 verified credits, grades 9-12.  Those students who meet the state requirements will be eligible to receive the appropriate State board of Education Seal on the diploma.

Effective with first time ninth graders in 2013-14 and beyond:

  • A student must successfully complete one virtual course, which may be non-credit bearing, to graduate with a Standard or Advanced Studies Diploma.
  • A student must earn a carreer and technical education credential that has been approved by the Virginia Board of Education to graduate with a Standard Diploma.

NOTE: Additional requirements for students entering ninth grade in 2016-17 and beyond:

Students are required to be trained in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators, including hands-on practice of the skills necessary to perform cardopulmonary resuscitation, to graduate with a Standard or Advanced Studies Diploma.
