Job Summary

This position provides training and technology integration strategies for teachers and staff implementing technology into the curriculum with the goal of competent, sound, and creative use of various instructional hardware, software, and Internet configurations. Develops model lessons and instructional products for use in the classroom and provides technology coaching and support in the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with building administrators to determine instructional technology training needs of staff
  • Works with the Instructional Technology department to develop and conduct appropriate professional development sessions related to the use of instructional software, applications, hardware, and related peripherals.
  • Meets regularly with instructional staff to plan and develop lessons supported by instructional technology.
  • Provides assistance with the appropriate integration of various technologies into daily instruction; develops and models lessons for teachers and students fully integrating curriculum and technology.
  • Research, investigate and learn to use all site-specific instructional hardware and software to support teaching and learning.
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance for all on-site productivity applications and instructional software.
  • Maintains archives of model lessons and products integrating technology into instruction.
  • Promotes and announces technology professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains documentation of training sessions effectiveness and the effective use of current technologies on site.
  • Maintains and disseminates information on Internet sites appropriate for use in daily instruction.
  • Serves on the building technology committee.
  • Assists teachers with preparation for TSIP assessment.
  • Performs basic diagnosis and troubleshooting for hardware, productivity applications, instructional software and peripherals and refers problems to Technology Department for repair.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Ability to implement appropriate instructional technology to support SOLs and other instructional strategies.
  • Ability to remain abreast of current educational research, instructional strategies and trends in technology integration strategies to enhance and support student achievement.
  • Ability to research, locate and deploy web resources to support instruction.
  • Ability to plan, develop and deliver training and ancillary materials related to the integration of software applications, hardware and peripherals into classroom instruction based upon sound, current educational research.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with instructional and technical staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop complex instructions, documentation and technical reports.
  • Ability to stay abreast of and analyze advancements and trends in the microcomputer industry and make recommendations for changes and improvements to systems and/or programs that support instruction.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Highly complex duties.  Must have high tolerance for change and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.  Demanding schedule often includes meetings before and after school. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
