Job Summary

This position supervises, coordinates, provides instructional and logistical leadership, and planning/implementation in conjunction and partnership with the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation (WCHF) for the WJCC School Health Initiative Program (SHIP).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the School Division liaison between the leadership and staff of the WCHF.
  • Supervises SHIP staff and provides ongoing professional development, leadership, guidance, and support for effective program implementation.
  • Works with the SHIP Executive Committee to monitor, assess, and adjust program planning, development, goals, objectives, and measurements.
  • Oversees all aspects of procuring and managing grant funding for program sustainability from WCHF and community supporters.
  • Develops and coordinates the development of the annual budget for SHIP in conjunction with WCHF, SHIP staff, and all stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with SHIP Coordinator for Outreach and Programming and WJCC Director for Public Relations and Community Engagement to prepare reports, articles, presentations and information pertinent to program components and progress.
  • Facilitates and ensures that communication and participation among key stakeholders within the community and the School Division is effectively established and disseminated.
  • Engages and works with program evaluation consultants and assessors to ensure that all metrics used in assessing the SHIP program are valid and reliable.
  • Leads the Strategic Planning process for SHIP to determine various strengths, threats, weaknesses and opportunities for the program through community engagement and stakeholder participation.
  • Provides leadership to all school sites in WJCC in partnership with the Superintendent, Senior Director for Specialized Educational Services, School Principals, and School Wellness Council leaders to ensure that all program components are effectively established, implemented, and measured.
  • Responsible for preparing interim and end-of-year progress reports and presentations to the School Board, WCHF Board of Directors, and Community Business Partners and Leaders.
  • Coordinates, plans, and develops programming for Wellness Integration with the Wellness Integration Specialists to ensure that needed resources, materials, and instructional methodologies are provided for successful implementation.
  • Works seamlessly with Child Nutrition Services Coordinator and Nutrition Specialist to provide nutrition education, programming, and continuous improvement of the school nutrition program for WJCC.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Experience in strategic planning, program management, grants and grant writing, and curriculum/instruction preferred.
  • Master’s or Doctoral level degree in educational leadership, health and wellness related field, public planning, or public health preferred.
  • Familiarity with and experience in program evaluation and budget development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing/speaking skills.

Supervision Exercised

Supervises the positions associated with the School Health Initiative Program and works collaborative with building leadership.

Supervision Received

Performs duties under the supervision of Senior Director for Student Services.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Duties are normally performed in an office environment. Frequent contact with parents, students and staff.  Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; see and read a computer screen and printed material with/without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
