Students after school tutoring for the January SOL tests will be held for Algebra 1, and Geometry today at dismissal, Reading is canceled for today.  Please check your letter or see Mrs. Colorado in room 600 for the location.

Attention DECA members and anyone interested in marketing and business there will be a DECA meeting afterschool today in room 118. We will be registering for our district competition and discussing other exciting upcoming events.

LHS Key Club is holding a mitten, scarf, hat, & sock drive for the Salvation Army through Wednesday, December 10th.  You can drop off your donations in your first block in the provided boxes.  The class with the most donations will win a Bagel Breakfast from Panera on Tuesday, December 16th.  See Mackenzie Wilson, Key Club President for details.

Students’ taking the SOL Writing test – the Multiple Choice part of the test is today at 11:25 and the Writing Prompt part is Friday, December 5th, at 7:30.  You must attend first lunch for today. You should have received a 2-day pass in your 1st block class.  See Mrs. Colorado if you did not get one.

Congratulations to the Girls JV Basketball team for their 40 / 21 victory over Burton Tuesday night.  Leading the way was Alyssa Hogan with 13 points, Kasiah Grant with 10 points and Maddie Vick with 7 points.

Seniors – the Financial Aid Information Session will take place Tuesday, December 9th from 6 to 7 pm in the lecture hall.  This session is for parents and students.  Please attend if planning to attend college, technical, or vocational school.

Do you love history? Do you love movies? Do you enjoy watching historical films?  The History on Film Club presents “Spirited Away” today at 2:30 in Ms. Von Poks room 407 NOT the Lecture Hall.

Students after school tutoring for the January SOL tests will be held for Ms. Dixon’s Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, and all Social Studies subjects today at dismissal. Earth Science tutoring will be held in the Upper Commons during AEP today (you should have a pass from Mrs. Colorado if you are a part of this AEP tutoring). Please check your letter or see Mrs. Colorado in room 600 for the location.

LHS One-Act wins State runner-up

Congratulations to LHS Theatre Department for winning State Runner-up for their one-act play “Unexpected Tenderness.” The VHSL State One-Act Play Festival in Charlottesville on Monday, Dec. 1st was a challenging meet, with a tight race to the finish! Lafayette tied for first place with their one act ‘Unexpected Tenderness.” However to break the tie, low scores were dropped and LHS became State runner-up. This has been the 8th year in a row that Lafayette Theatre has performed at States. Four Best Actor awards were given and Lafayette took two of those awards. Seniors Kristen Schumacher and Dylan Marcuson took these awards as they have at Conference and Regionals.

Football 3A East Region Champions!!

Rams won the 3A East region champion trophy with a 49-8 win over Petersburg.  They will move on to the state semi-final against Western Albemarle next saturday December 6 at Wanner Stadium 2pm.  This will be the first semi-finals appearance in 12 years for the Rams.

Winter Sports Season Passes

These passes are good for all home games during the regular season, doesn’t include any post season games.

LHS Theatre Department wins regionals

Congratulations to the LHS Theatre Department who recently won regionals at the VHSL One Act Play Festival in Fredericksburg. The cast and crew of ‘Unexpected Tenderness’ will compete in the State competition on Dec. 1st in Charlottesville. It is the 8th year in a row that the LHS Theatre Dept. has taken their one act to state-level competition. Seniors Dylan Marcuson and Kristen Schumacher were the only two actors awarded ‘Best Actors’ at the Regional Meet. Dylan (3rd from left- top row) Kristen (4th from left -top row)
