The Bayport student run credit union is having a contest, all student and staff members will need to wear their Bayport shirts as often as possible.  Swing by the Bayport desk when you’re wearing your shirt and we will snap a photo of you and at the end of the week a tally will be drawn and a $10 gift card will be given to the winner.

Students, don’t miss your chance to speak with a published author.  The library will be Skyping with Young Adult author, Beth Revis, afterschool on Thursday, April 28th.  Students will be able to ask her questions about the books she has written, as well as her writing process.  Stop by the media center for more information.

Attention students – only students with special permission will be allowed to use the clinic bathroom.  Please use the bathroom closest to your classroom.   If you are between classes and need to see the nurse, please check in with your classroom teacher prior to coming.  Also, the clinic is closed from 1:00-1:30pm for lunch, except for emergencies.

The Bayport student run credit union is now collecting change; pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters for different charity events that will be held every week, this week it’s St. Jude’s.  These events are open to teachers and students so come on down to the Bayport desk to drop off your change for a good cause.

Senior shirts will be on sale during lunches from Wednesday, March 23rd through Thursday, March 31st.  They will not be available for purchase after Spring Break so preorder your shirt for $15.00.  A sample shirt will be on display at ordering table.

Senior Cap and Gown retake photos will take place on Monday, March 28th outside the front office. Sign up for a time on the yearbook bulletin board outside the media center.  A $25.00 sitting fee is due at the time of your photo.

There are only 81 copies of the yearbook left. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. No more books will be printed.

At the New Kent Invitational this past weekend LHS girls’ track team won the championship and the boys placed 2nd.  Brook Crookston set a new meet record in the 800 meters.  Rashawn Smith set a new meet record in the 100 meters.  Mike Tyler set a new meet record in the triple jump.  The girls’ mile relay placed 1st.  On that team was; Serenity Chavez, Camille Hairston, Talisha Hairston and Brooke Crookston.  Delaney Savedge was 1st and  Serenity Chavez was 2nd  in the 1600 meters.  Alexis Brender Brandis was 1st in the 100 meters hurdles and 2nd in the long jump.  Audrey Hurley was 2nd in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters.  Selena Jones was 1st in the 300 meters hurdles.  Peyton Blanding placed 1st in the pole vault.  Rashawn Smith was 1st in the 200 meters.  In the boys mile relay, LHS boys placed 1st.    That team consisted of; Queshon Sharpless, Devon Underwood, Noah Cane and Keelan Hendricks.  The 400 meters relay team placed second.  On that team was Hezekiah Grimsley, Queshon Sharpless, Rashawn Smith and Mike Tyler.  Noah Cane was 3rd in the 300 meters hurdles and 4th in the 110 meters hurdles.  Keelan Hendricks was 4th in the 400 meters.  Devon Underwood was 4th in the high jump.   Way to go Running Rams.  A great start for the outdoor season.

This past weekend in the New Balance National Track Meet in New York, Konrad Steck ran the mile in 4 minutes and 12 seconds, setting a new LHS indoor record.  Mike Tyler jumped well in the high jump.  Brook Crookston ran well in the 800 meters.  Audrey Hurley ran well in the 400 meters.  In the Hershey Track Meet in Hershey, PA Delaney Savedge placed 2nd in the 3000 meters.  Way to go Running Rams!

The History on Film club presents “Black Hawk Down” on today at 2:30 in the lecture hall.  Come and enjoy popcorn & drinks and witness the story based on the best-selling book detailing a near-disastrous mission in Somalia in 1993 where U.S. Army Rangers were lower by helicopter into Somalia to destabilize the government and bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population.

The Ledger is hosting a fundraiser at Blaze Pizza in New Town today from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  Get a flyer from any journalism student, and present it at the time of purchase to help support our school newspaper.
