Seniors – please complete the Class of 2016 Senior Survey by logging onto the Lafayette High School website, look under the Quicklinks Stab for “Senior Survey” and follow the instructions.  Surveys must be completed by Friday, May 20th.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Easter in the Guidance department.

RamNation – do you remember how you felt on your first day as a freshman?  Were you scared, nervous, did you feel lost?  Let’s try to make the class of 2020 feel comfortable and welcomed.  If you are interested in becoming a 2016-17 Rambassador please pick up an application from Mrs. Dixon in room 404 or 409.  Application deadline is Tuesday, May 24th.

Rising juniors and seniors – the Econ/Personal Finance course is now being offered free of charge over the summer.  If you want to knock out this credit and get ahead, see your school counselor as soon as possible for more information.  Registration forms are due to the Counseling Office by Wednesday, June 8th.  First come, first served.

This past weekend at the prestigious Southern Track Classic, with competitors from the entire east coast, Mike Tyler placed 2nd in the high jump and  2nd in the triple jump with a PR.  Konrad Steck was 2nd in the 1 mile run.  Audrey Hurley was 6th in the 4oo meters.  Brooke Crookston was 7th in the 1 mile run.

Wednesday at the Bay River District track meet, the girls and boys won.  The girls are 4 and 0 for the year and the boys are 3 and 1.  Outstanding performances for the girls were:  Peyton Blanding, who won the pole vault. She placed 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles.   Serenity Chavez won the half mile and ran on the winning 4 by 8.  Alexis Brender Brandis won the hurdles, the triple jump and ran on the winning 4 by 100.  Brooke Crookston was 2nd in the 400 and ran on the winning 4 by 8.  Selena Jones placed 3rd in the 100 meters, she also placed 3rd in the 200 meters and 3nd in the triple jump and ran on the winning 4 by 1.  Kasiah Blake was 2nd in the long jump and ran on the winning 4 by 1.  Talisha Hairston won the 300 meter hurdles.  Kenya Holiday had a PR in the shot put and ran on the winning 4 by 1. Delaney Savage and Summer Chambers also ran on the winning 4 by 8.  Diamond Durant was 3rd in the high jump.  For the boys, outstanding performances were done by Mike Tyler who won the high jump, long jump, triple jump and the high hurdles. Tyler Jump won the shot put, and the discus. Derrrick Abson placed 2nd in the long jump, 2nd in the triple jump and he was 4th in the 100 meters and 2nd in the 800 meters. Jax Palmer placed 2nd in the pole vault with a PR.  Rashawn Smith was 2nd in the 100 and placed 4th in the 400. The boys won the 4 by 8 with a team of Konrad Steck, Cade Moreno, Keelan Hendricks and Liam Bonga.

The library will be closing at 2:30 on Thursday and Friday.  We will resume with our normal schedule on Monday.

Only students with special permission will be allowed to use the clinic bathroom.  Please use the bathroom closest to your classroom.   If you are between classes and need to see the nurse, please check in with your classroom teacher prior to coming.  Also, the clinic is closed from 1:00-1:30pm for lunch, except for emergencies.

The Marching Rams are pleased to announce their 2016 Fall Competitive Field Show.  Next fall the Marching Rams will perform music from the award winning musical “Wicked”.  We are looking to increase the size and scope of the Color Guard unit for next year’s production.  If you enjoy dance and highly choreographed visual routines, then come get information from Mr. Hargis and become an important part of being a member of the Marching Rams.  Clinics will start next Wednesday, May 18th from 6-8 PM with Mrs. Morris.  Sign-ups are on the band room door, please see Mr. Hargis for any additional questions.
