Seniors: If you have a December 15th through January 5th deadline, please make sure you request your transcript and submit your counselor recommendation form by this Friday, December 15th.  Any requests made over winter break will not be processed until we return on January 2nd. See your school counselor if you have any questions.

Last Thursday, the LHS girls track team won the BRD track meet #1 at Boo Williams. Taymar Gorelick was 1st in the high jump; Aiyana Jones was 2nd.  Peyton Blanding was 1st in the pole vault, and 2nd in the hurdles.  Braden Underwood won the pole vault with 12 ‘ 6 “.  Noah Cane was 2nd in the hurdles.  Robert Walton and Elijah Washington were 2nd and 3rd in the shot put.  Way to go Running Rams!

Hour of Code

Freshmen Paul Marlett and Caiden Petty work with Ozobots during the Media Center’s Hour of Code AEP workshops. Students had the chance to sample a variety of coding tools, including  Spheros, Codemaster, and Ozobots, as well as many online coding activities including Google logo creation, Code Combat, Blockly, and more. Hour of Code is part of the Computer Science Education week.

ASVAB test results are here! Please stop by the counseling office during lunch to pick them up.

Term graduates who still need to take SOLs should come to remediation during AEP. Please see Mrs. Gower-Kinney in room 600.

Latin Club will meet during AEP in room 628 on Friday, December 8th. Please see Magistra Feingold for an AEP pass. We will complete officer elections and plan for Saturnalia.

If you are in ASL class and club and wish to join the ASL National Honor Society, please come to an information session during AEP on Friday December 8th.  Please stop by Mrs. Swinson’s room to get an AEP pass.

Today is Underclassmen Picture Make-up day from 9am-11am. If would like to retake your photo, please come to the auditorium during this time. If you have not taken your yearbook photo yet, you  will receive a pass through your AEP teacher.

Interested in learning more about this spring’s boys’ Lafayette Lacrosse Club? Come to the informational meeting tonight in the Lecture Hall at 6:00 right before the boys’ basketball game against Tabb. We’ll answer questions and outline the season ahead. Join the team and help us defend the championship!

UVA High School Honors Band Day

Cameron Jones, Maya Canaday, and Avery Walters proudly represented Lafayette at UVA High School Honors Band Day and participated with 300 high school honors band students from seven states and UVA’s entire 320 college marching band to perform in its’ first annual Holidays With The Hoos.  The performance was in the John Paul Jones arena and was remarkable.

It’s Computer Science Education Week! Come CODE in the library during AEP this Thursday and Friday.  Learn coding basics, program Spheros, play with Ozobots, and more.  All interested students MUST sign up ahead of time in the media center!

Picture make-up day for 9 – 11th  grade students will be this Thursday, December 7th, from 9 – 11 am. If you did not sit for your yearbook photo, you will receive a pass.

This past weekend at the Caroline High School Invite, the LHS track boys placed 4th out more than 16 teams!  Adam Leschinger placed 1st in the long jump, and Braden Underwood placed 1st in the pole vault.  The mile relay team, consisting of Adam Leschinger, Cory Alston, Alex Wooley and Chris Collins, also placed 1st. Great job, Running Rams!

And congrats to Mike Green, Rashaad Harris, Keven Nguyen, Noah Cotton- Caballero, and Colby Gray for placing in the Kyle Elliott Memorial Classic wrestling tournament this weekend.

Dr. Hollemon accepts STEAM grant

The Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance program presents Lafayette’s Interim Principal, Dr. Hollemon, a $1000 grant check. Each year, Exxon Mobil presents grant funds to individual schools that promote STEAM projects that stretch beyond the classroom.
