Did you know that seat belts reduce serious crash-related injuries and deaths by 50%? Seat belt use saves almost 15,000 lives each year!  Air bags provide added protection, but are not a substitute for seat belts. Do not unbuckle while the car is in motion, no matter how close your destination. Remember, “Click It or Ticket, It’s the Law”. Throughout the year we, at Lafayette, will periodically check to see if you are wearing your seat belt. Student drivers – if anyone in your vehicle is found to be unbuckled, you will lose your parking pass, and your parents will be notified. Again, “Click It or Ticket, it’s the Law”. Stay safe this holiday season, Rams!

Do you want to know what the spring musical is? Well, we’ll tell you…but not now! Come to the Unveiling of the Banner on Wednesday, January 2nd, immediately after school in the auditorium. Bring a friend! Two free ticket vouchers will be given to one lucky winner…just for showing up for the Unveiling of the Banner! Don’t miss this exciting annual theatre tradition after school on Wednesday, January 2nd. See you there!

Here’s an eco-tip from the Guardians of the Garden Eco Club! Pack a No Waste Lunch: a ‘no-waste lunch’ is a meal that does not end up in the trash. Buy food in bulk and put it in reusable containers to carry to school or work. Packing your food in reusables is typically less expensive and creates less waste than buying food that comes in disposable containers.

LHS Students Enjoy the Night Sky

On Friday, December 7, about 20 students from LHS braved cold temperatures to enjoy the night sky.  They enjoyed telescope views of Mars, Uranus, Neptune, galaxies and celestial objects from the Messier Astronomical Catalog.  The Eco Club provided delicious hot chocolate and cookies for the occasion.  Please join us for the next star party (info to come) and see Mr. Moore if you are interested in LHS having an astronomy club.
