Students and teachers – This week, National Honor Society is sponsoring a Children’s Book Drive to support literacy in our elementary schools. Please clean out your bookshelves, and bring in children’s books to support this great cause! Donation boxes are located in your teachers’ classrooms, the Media Center, and in the front office. Let’s help our community to become better readers!

The Eco Club is sponsoring a litter pickup on Wednesday, March 27th, at 2:30 pm. Come help clean up the school grounds, and earn 1 and a half volunteer hours. Water, gloves, and trash bags will be provided. If interested, please sign up on using the link on the LHS website.

Attention! The March 23rd RamFam 5K has a new location and time. The race will now begin at 9AM and it will take place at Eastern State Hospital.

LHS French Students Honor General Lafayette at the State Capital

The American Friends of Lafayette Society invited LHS French students to help celebrate General Lafayette at the State Capital on March 14th.

 

Students met with French officials and representatives from the American Friends of Layette Society and the French group, Alliance Française, and they toured the Richmond State Capital and the Executive Governor’s Mansion.  Finally, students were treated to the delicious French luncheon of Coq au Vin, Salade Niçoise and for dessert, Mini Crème Brulées and Tarte Tartin!

The LHS orchestra  did an wonderful rendition of “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” to recognize the only true musical art form birthed in the United States.

Seniors! If you are interested in speaking at the 2019 Graduation Ceremony, please submit your application to the main office by tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19th. Applications can be found on the LHS website, or in the main office.

On your mark, get set, and Go, Go, Go! Lafayette students and staff, join us this Saturday, March 23rd for the RAM FAM 5K run! All proceeds will fund scholarships for LHS students.  Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors – the 5K is an opportunity for each of you to raise money for your class. The class with the most participants will get a trophy and bragging rights, as well as an additional $100 toward your class funds!  Please see Ms. Turner in F-5 for more information.
