District champs

Congratulations  LHS Theatre Department, recently named as Champions at recent Super Regional VHSL  One Act competition.  ‘These Shining Lives’  won first place among 7 other schools. Top performer and best actor at Super Regional was Junior Christine Strong. Other best actors on all star team were Seniors Tara Davy and Eric Stump. We wish the team Good Luck as they head onto STATES, Dec. 5th. This will be the 11th year in a row, that LHS Theatre has taken their team to VHSL One Act State meet.

Ram Fans! Want something to do inside where it’s warm during the cold weather? Come to Revolution Golf and Grille on Monday, November 27th, from 6 – 8 PM for Lafayette’s athletics night. You can grab dinner from the Taco Bar for $12, and rent a golf and game bay for the reduced price of $25 per hour. A percentage of the sales will go towards the LHS Athletic Booster Club. See you there!

Redistricting Community Dialogues Set

WJCC will hold two Community Dialogues to provide information about the redistricting process and to give the community an opportunity to review and give feedback on draft boundary maps. We will hold two sessions each night — one on middle school maps and one on high school maps. Participants are welcome to attend one or both of the sessions.

November 30, 2017 @ Warhill High School Middle School Maps: 5-6:30 p.m.
High School Maps: 7-8:30 p.m.
December 5, 2017 @ Lafayette High School High School Maps: 5-6:30 p.m.
Middle School Maps: 7-8:30 p.m.

Harvest concert

2017 Harvest Concert & Family Fun Night presented by the orchestra of Lafayette HS, Jamestown HS & Berkeley MS.  Our orchestras performed in costume for this annual Halloween-time concert, with pies, a costume contest, and doughnut eating competition following the performance.  Pictured is our rendition of “Orange Blossom Special”, which the orchestras performs every year from memory.

In celebration of DECA Month. our DECA chapter will ask a quiz question every day this week. Today’s question is: How can DECA help you succeed in life? Stop by Mrs. Napier’s room 415 with your answer, and the first 5 students with the correct answer will receive a prize!

It’s not too late to purchase tickets for tonight’s semifinal football game vs Deep Creek!  They are $8.00, and available during all lunches.

LHS will host 8 schools this Saturday at the One Act “Super Regional” Theatre Festival.  The competition runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Be sure to arrive by 1:45 to support LHS Theatre as they perform their regional runner up performance, “These Shining Lives.”  Admission is free and all performances are open to the public.

Here’s the final Stuff the Cruiser update! Big congratulations to Ms. Joan Turner’s class who donated over 550 canned food items! They will receive free breakfast from Officer McLaughlin. In addition, congrats to Lafayette students and staff for donating over 1100 canned food items in total, beating both Warhill and Jamestown in this year’s competition. Way to go RAMS!!!

Seniors!  Tomorrow is the last day of College Application Week!  Most Virginia universities are waiving their application fees during this week.  Sign up for an appointment with your counselor TODAY if you need help with your applications!

Calling all RAMS!  Lafayette will host a regional semi-final football game against Deep Creek HS at Wanner Stadium this Friday at 7.  Presale tickets will be sold for $8.00 at all lunch shifts today and Friday.  Tickets will also be available to the general public in the Athletic Director’s office from 8:30 to 2:30 both days.
