Kindergarten and first graders will learn about rhythm and dance, and how dance can be used as a great way to exercise. Students will be introduced to the skeletal system and will understand what functions bones serve in the human body.
Second and third graders will continue learning different folk, line, and social dances. They will continue to learn about bone health and will use pedometers as a way to track their movement while dancing.
Fourth and fifth graders will use pedometers to track their moderate-to-vigorous activity time while dancing. They will learn the names of many upper and lower extremity bones, and will learn how they can grow and maintain strong bones throughout their life.
All students will focus on acceptance of other cultures as they willingly participate in dances from around the world.
