Volunteers Needed for the Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to RBES next week and we could use extra hands during the week.  If you can volunteer just an hour of your time, we’d GREATLY appreciate it!  Visit VolunteerSpot site (http://vols.pt/zeAQoN)  for sign-up or email PTA President Trista Sikes (trista.rawlsbyrd@gmail.com) or Kathleen Colpetzer (kacolpetzer@gmail.com).

Thank you for making this event a successful one for our children!

A Message to 4th Grade Families about Gifted Services

The Williamsburg-James City County Program for Gifted Students provides services for formally identified gifted students in grades K-12.  Screening for rising 5th grade students will begin in March.  Referrals can be made by a parent, teacher, other staff member, or self.  Referred 4th grade students will be screened for eligibility for gifted language arts and/or mathematics (6th grade math curriculum during 5th grade).  If you are interested in learning more about this program, would like to discuss your child and the assessment process, or would like to receive a referral form, please contact Robert Ponton, Rawls Byrd Elementary Gifted Resource Teacher. He can be reached by phone at 229-7597, or by email at robertponton@wjccschools.org.
